Preserving in your kitchen, we want to share our skills.

The Urban Pear understand that preserving in your own kitchen and sharing the journey with friends is the key to success. We would love to come to your home kitchen, community kitchen outdoor kitchen, or kitchen event.

We love what we do here at The Urban Pear and we would love to share it with you.

We offer workshops in all types of food preserving, from introductory classes to specialist classes in jam chutney and relish making, fermenting, simple garden to kitchen cooking and seasonal workshops for how to preserve the Summer and Autumn surplus.

These include preserving (canning) tomatoes, peaches, apricots and plums. Pickling and brining olives, zucchinis and cucumbers. Drying fruit and veggies and how to reduce waste and get the most out of a bumper harvest.

Our preserving adventures so far…

The Urban Pear have been lucky to spend lovely days preserving with a wide range of people with many and varied experiences at CERES Community Environment Park, the Sustainable Living Festival, the Food Know How program and a variety of local councils.
